In India: Three-day Window for Demonetization in March

currency demonetization in india 2016

True or fake?

On November 8, 2016, the Government of India announced the demonetization of all INR 500 and INR 1,000 currency notes to curb the shadow economy and crack down on the use of fake currency notes that was being used for illegal activity and terrorism. The demonetization period lasted till December 30, 2016. However, according to a recent news circulating on WhatsApp, a three day window in March will allow citizens one last chance to exchange the currency notes. Could this be fake news?
